Nato 26″ E-Bike Review

The Nakto Spark E-bike

As many of you will have noticed, the electric bike craze has pretty much taken over the biking world. Just yesterday I saw someone blast past me without breaking a sweat – after closer inspection I noticed he was riding an electric bike and looked as happy as Larry.

People are rushing out in their masses to local bike stores in the quest to grab one of these extremely versatile and handy travel options. Why peddle when you can sit back and break a top speed of 20mph?? It seems like a ludicrously obvious choice for some individuals, especially people that live just out of walking distance from their place of work.

With that being said, today we’ll be taking a closer look at the Nakto 26” electric bike – a very well-priced electric bike that comes with a whole host of exciting benefits. Aside from looking at the general specifications, we’ll also be looking at the engine, battery, frame, and brakes to see how it stacks up in an ever-growing market of electric bikes.

So, with plenty to be getting through, let’s waste no further time and dive straight into it!

Frames

At the heart of this fantastic bike lies a carbon steel frame, offering an unrivalled mix of strength and longevity at this particular price point. Thanks to the carbon steel used in the frame, you’ll be pleased to know this bike supports weights of up to 300 pounds and is ideal for individuals between 4’4” and 6’6”.

This is possible thanks to the ‘U’ shape frame the Nakto electric bike has been given. It allows for extremely easy mounting and dismounting, with no real effort required for either. Thanks to the shape of the frame, this bike is ideal for people with historic back issues or joint problems.

The front forks also feature carbon steel and have been designed to provide high levels of comfort and shock absorption. This means no matter how bumpy the terrain gets, you should have a stress free riding experience.

Unlike other electric bikes that come to the table sporting aluminum frames, the Nakto doesn’t boast a lightweight design. It weighs in at 50-70 pounds which, let’s be honest, isn’t the lightest bike in the world. However, for that additional weight, you technically get a tonne of extra strength and longevity – two areas that we feel are extremely important in any electric bike.

Engine & Battery

Powering this bike is an extremely efficient, top of the range 36V, 250W brushless motor set up. The motor itself is situated in the middle of the back wheel with the battery sitting snuggly behind the seat. This particular motor has enough power to get you moving well in advance of 20mph. At best, you’re looking at 25mph which, for a bike of this size and weight, is extremely welcome – especially if you live in an area that is hilly or steeply inclined.

The lithium battery which comes hand in hand with this engine provides upto 25miles of coverage on a single charge. It’s also fully removable for those that would feel safer storing them in separate locations.

Users have access to two working modes for this engine, with options for engine-only motion or additional power when pedaling. Using the latter of the two options will extend the bike's battery life and provide extra mileage, however, it will cost you in the leg department.

Ultimately, it doesn’t really matter which option you decide to go for, both work in an extremely efficient manner. The biggest plus for me when referencing the motor, though, is the price. I mean, you’ll struggle to find an e-bike for under $1,000 that comes equipped with a 36V engine.

Brakes

The Nakto electric bike offers rear expansion brakes and front V brakes on a 6-speed Shimano transmission system. This pairing is perfect for this bike's weight and size, not only allowing you to reach the speed that’s most comfortable for you, but giving you the confidence of quality brakes as well.

The brakes are fully equipped to bring this bike to a complete stop without losing any of your control or stability. Even at maximum speed, you’ll be confident in your braking ability thanks to the quality used here.

Gears

As mentioned above, the Nakto also comes with a high-quality Shimano 6-speed gear set – great for finding your desired speed. The addition of Shimano not only adds quality to this bike's overall makeup, it also ensures you’ll have a smooth ride for the entirety of your trip. No matter what terrain or incline, the Shimano 6-speed will have you well covered.

Tires

Lastly, we have the tires. The Nakto electric bike comes to the table boasting 26” by 4” CST fat tires. Not only do these add a nice touch to this bike’s overall aesthetic appeal, they also add extra stability when riding and should give you a quality lifespan as well.

Furthermore, alongside general stability, the fat tires used here will plough through all kinds of terrain and weather; including snow, sand, mud, and all other types of off-road surface. These are the kind of tires that will give you the confidence to take that off-road dirt track and never look back. Just remember, ideal air pressure of 30PSI and you’re good to go.

Pros

  • Strong and durable construction that will stand the test of time
  • Comfortable seating position, catering to a wide variety of body sizes
  • Excellent battery life
  • Easy to ride and great stability
  • A design that’s certainly coming back into trend

Cons

  • Can be a little on the heavy side for some individuals
  • Maintenance can be a little awkward, especially if you aren’t that tech savvy
  • Manuals can be a little on the techy side as well

Final Thoughts

Like all purchases, there are certain aspects of every purchase which must be considered before you finalise your decision. For me, when it comes to choosing an ebike that’s going to be right for your needs, you must ensure it meets your exact requirements. Make sure it offers the speed you need, accommodates your body size, and falls within a price bracket that you feel is affordable and value for money. Once you’ve considered that, you’ll be ensuring your next ebike purchase is not only well-informed, but actually right for you.

Ultimately, what you’re looking at here is a very well-priced, nicely built ebike that ticks a lot of the right boxes. Yes, of course this bike comes with its flaws, what product doesn’t? However, what we love about this bike is, at no point do the flaws start to outweigh the pros. The Nakto electric bike is a fantastic way to take your commute to a new and exciting level. Not only does it provide you excellent stability and comfort, it also allows you to sit back, relax, and let the miles roll by. The 36V battery offers more power than most bikes at this price point and with a coverage of 25miles, you’ll be hard pressed to find anything that offers similar levels of performance – at this price.

Overall, it’s hard to knock the Nakto when you consider its price point. It currently retails for around $600 and is extremely good value for money. Whilst it might not have all the bells and whistles a $1000 bike comes with, it has the essentials, and the essentials go a long way.
